Last week, in commemoration of Women’s History Month, Machine Design highlighted five dynamic individuals making their mark in the engineering industry. And today, as March comes to a close, we shine a spotlight on two of the women featured in that piece. Our lead story delves into the backstory of Carole Franklin, director of standards development for robotics at A3, chronicling a career path that’s been every bit as unexpected as it’s been fruitful.
We also revisit another subject of the original story, Valérie Servranckx, an application specialist at Zebra Technologies. In the article and accompanying video below, Servranckx demonstrates Zebra’s AltiZ high-fidelity 3D profile sensor. Specifically, she details how the sensor is used to inspect Canadian currency, which includes tactile features for the benefit of the visually impaired.
