Torque limiter protects machinery

When torque is transmitted from one machine component to another, equipment can be damaged when a jam prevents rotation of the driven component. To prevent torque overloads from transferring to costly upstream components, engineers at Mach III Clutch Inc. Walton, Ky., have developed a series of torque limiters that prevent damage by slipping until the overload stops or the machine shuts down.

The torque output of the device is proportional to the compression of the disc spring and can be set or adjusted in the field. The device comes in 30 different models with torque capacities ranging up to 17,257€lb-in. There are also five different mounting options.
