When women engineers excel

    The Women in Engineering Programs and Advocates Network (Wepan) recently handed out kudos to three companies and two individuals.

    Organizational winners include DuPont, Iowa State University, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Individual awards went to Sue Rosser, Georgia Institute of Technology, and Cinda-Sue Davis, The University of Michigan.

    DuPont received the Breakthrough Award for employing women engineers and creating an environment conducive to their success. Iowa State and Worcester Polytechnic each took home the Women in Engineering Program Award, which recognizes outstanding programs or projects that serve as models for other institutions.

    Rosser received the Betty Vetter Award for Research, while Davis took home the Founder's Award for carrying out the goal of Wepan - to engineer a diverse future for the engineering profession.
