A peek inside a First Robotics kit

More than 32,000 students from 344 high schools participated in the recent First Robotics Competition at Atlanta's Georgia Dome.

The students built robots from identical kits that included (among other parts) DualVee wheels and track (inset) from Bishop-Wisecarver Corp., Pittsburg, Calif. Teams from Worcester, Mass., Las Vegas, and South Windsor, Conn., formed the winning alliance. Dean Kamen, inventor of the Segway Human Transporter, founded the competition.
