A modified Fluke 54 Series II digital thermometer from Fluke Corp., was used by the U.S. space shuttle Discovery crew in a demonstration of space-based repair of Thermal Protection System (TPS) tiles during the shuttle's "Return to Flight" voyage.

Aellora Digital, Keene, N.H., has unveiled four new industrial digital print solutions based on hybrid UV-curable ink-jet technology. These jetting inks, often referred to as semisolid or paste inks, make high-resolution printing on untreated plastics, papers, wood, glass, ceramics, metals, and advanced coatings possible.

German company BASF is building a new nitric-acid plant in China and has chosen stainless-steel grade Sandvik 2RE10 for the heat exchangers based on previous experience with the material.
