Robotic Palletizers, Software Address High-Throughput Needs

Sept. 28, 2017
The technology addresses companies’ expanding inventories in the face of limited space and rigorous uptime requirements with a conveyor that is efficient and smart.

Intelligrated, now a part of Honeywell, will showcase its robotic palletizing and depalletizing solutions in booth #C-3906. The technology supports high-throughput operations while reducing labor requirements and improving flexibility for a variety of packaging types, stacking patterns, and layout constraints.

The company demonstrates a robotic palletizing system using a unitizing approach to build loads directly onto slip sheets or conveyors. The unitized loads travel to the robotic depalletizer on Intelligrated Palmat conveyor, which is a full-width, heavy-duty modular plastic belt designed for column-stacked loads or unitized loads that are unstable or difficult to handle.

Finally, the robotic depalletizer unloads items and places them on MDR conveyor for transportation back to the palletizer. Meanwhile, a Rockwell Automation-based HMI provides a clear visualization of equipment status and diagnostics throughout the operation.

“As an RIA-certified robot integrator, Intelligrated offers the proven experience and expertise to solve these challenges, along with single-source accountability, dedicated support and integrated software and controls to make the most of automation investments and set up operations for long-term success,” says Matt Wicks, vice president, product development, manufacturing systems.

The company also features its IntelliGen palletizing software, which offers a user-friendly, flexible solution to adjust pattern and load configurations according to changing product dimensions and other variables.
