Synchronous motors for hazardous locations

The Superior Electric XCE Series hazardous-duty synchronous motors meet ATEX standards for use in explosive atmospheres.

A flameproof enclosure, with a maximum surface temperature of 100°C, targets industries exposed to gases, including acetylene and hydrogen.

These high-pole count motors run at slower speeds (72 rpm with 60-Hz power or 60 rpm with 50-Hz power) and require a resistor-capacitor network to operate from a single-phase ac utility power. The XCE Series operate on 120 or 240 Vac with torque rated up to 1,500 oz-in. in NEMA size 42 or 66 housings.
