Shocks feature high energy capacity

Nov. 6, 2003
Advances in controls and networks combined with components that pack more punch have opened the door to more-precise, durable, and economical pneumatic systems.

An improved design has significantly increased energy-per-cycle capacity of the MC 150, 225, and 600 Series industrial shock absorbers from Ace Controls, Farmington Hills, Mich. Select MC self-compensating miniature models now have the energy capacity of former larger-sized middle bore models.

Design features include a rolling-diaphragm seal system that offers long cycle life and a hex socket in the rear of the unit for ease of installation. The shocks are said to be suitable for mounting into the end covers of pneumatic cylinders and provide superior damping compared to conventional cylinder cushions. Applications include material-handling equipment, robotics, machine tools, pick-and-place systems, and packaging equipment.
