New Product: Inexpensive Compression Limiters

March 20, 2008
The Series CL500 and CL550 rollformed, insert-moldable compression limiters replace expensive machined limiters.

The devices preserve the integrity of threaded joints when fastening plastic-to-plastic assemblies, or plastic-to-metal assemblies. Bolt tightening produces the required friction between threads, compresses the plastic, and eliminates creep in the plastic that causes loosening and joint failure. The limiter absorbs the load generated from tightening the bolt. The plastic is isolated from excessive compressive loads.

The limiter is made from lowcarbon steel with a trivalent (hexavalent- free) zinc plate finish for corrosion protection.

The Series CL500 is designed around standard industry-accepted clearances for 6 and 8-mm bolts. Series CL550 has additional clearance around the bolts to accommodate greater positional tolerances.
