High-Gloss Plastic At Lower Molding Temperatures

Three Impet polyethylene terephthalate (PET) resins mold with smooth, high-gloss surfaces at mold temperatures of 90 to 100°C. Their crystallization rates in this temperature range match those of conventional PETs at 130° or higher. This means parts can be molded in water-cooled rather than oil-cooled tools, such as those needed by competing PETs. The Impet resins PET FC835, PET FC840, and PET FC845 come in glass loadings of 35, 40, and 45, respectively. The resin's improved flow properties and lower cycle times let them work in applications such as luggage racks, spark-plug covers, and grill retainers.
