The new Able gear reducer from Shimpo Drives Inc., Itasca, Ill. (www.shimpodrives.com), is designed with flexibility in mind. Versions with concentric-shaft design, along with modular flanges and keyless compressible bushings, easily mount to any manufacturer's servomotor. The planetary reducer also uses Shimpo's Acculock keyless locking hub to secure it tightly to motor shafts without adding backlash. Versions with three levels of backlash are available, including standard (<15 arc-min), low (<5 arc-min), and precision (<3 arc-min). There are also four basic sizes, and single and double reducers as well.

Input power can be between 0.05 to 2 kW (0.0625 to 2.7 hp), and input speed can be as high as 6,000 rpm. Reducing ratios range from 3:1 to 25:1.
