FDA compliant PEEK coatings and resin

Dec. 14, 2006
Recent additions to the line of a linear, aromatic, semicrystalline Victrex PEEK polymers from Victrex USA Inc. now comply with the compositional requirements of regulation 21 CFR 175.300 for resinous and polymeric coatings of the FDA.

Vicote 708 and 709 Coatings are a durable, high-temperture alternative to fluoropolymer coatings used in cookware and food processing parts. Victrex PEEK-HT previously complied with EU Food Contact Regulations and is currently used in the oil and gas industry where aggressive stresses and chemicals and high temperatures of greater than 200°C and pressures of 138 Mpa are prevalent. PEEK-HT has higher glass transition and melt temperatures than other PEEK grades and delivers longer-term durability, strength and reliability. These improved performance benefits at even higher temperatures make the polymer a candidate for food processing applications including, equipment bearings, seals, precision cutting blades, and pump components.
