Energy-conserving heat-pump soft start - Carlo Gavazzi

The RSBS Series single-phase plug-and-play soft start reduces the starting current of heat pumps used in residential installations.
The RSBS Series single-phase plug-and-play soft start reduces the starting current of heat pumps used in residential installations. The soft start limits amperage demand, which peaks when single-phase scroll compressors — usually used in heat pumps — are starting. Maintaining starting current below fixed limits lets the RSBS avoid high-energy tariffs. Bypassing its internal power semiconductors lets it reduce heat dissipation. The RSBS provides a 60% reduction in current and increases compressor lifetime.Features include optimized performance for scroll compressors; integrated current limit feedback for inrush current reduction to <40Arms for compressors rated up to 25-A rms and <45-A rms for compressors rated up to 32-A rms; reduced mechanical stress; integrated diagnostic features for safe operation at all times; and an optional auxiliary alarm relay output for interfacing of alarms to an external panel Carlo Gavazzi, 750 Hastings Lane, Buffalo Grove, IL 60089, (847) 465-6100, www.gavazzionline.com
