    SimOffice, a simulation and collaboration program, encourages companies to put their simulations into parametric formats so less-experienced engineers can pull up a parametric model, apply new dimensions, and then run a canned simulation for stress or thermals.

    Should a design prove insufficient, new dimensions can be applied, the simulation rerun, and the process repeated until the designer finds a best design for the task. The software uses the latest Patran as a preprocessor, MSC. Nastran as the solver, and comes with Visual Basic for GUIs for preprogramming simulation tasks. Microsoft .NET features make simulations efficient for use on the Web when collaborating. The software includes a parametric beam-design section and lets users choose the measurement system. SimOffice works with programs engineers already use such as CAD systems and Excel.
