Bidirectional Flow Sensor

Feb. 23, 2006
This insertion-style electromagnetic flow sensor comes with built-in display, empty-pipe detection, and bidirectional flow capabilities.

The Signet 2551 display magmeter has no moving parts which lets the unit measure flows with high particle, solids, or fiber content without wear or fouling.

An integral 2 16-character dotmatrix LCD provides local readings of flow rate, permanent total flow, and a resettable flow total in one of six userselectable languages. Mechanical SPDT or solid-state relays for alarm indication or control of valves or pumps are options.

The 2551 detects and indicates empty pipe conditions with a zero-flow signal output. Output options include frequency, digital, or 4 to 20 mA. The frequency output handles bidirectional sensing while the 4 to 20-mA output is settable for single or bidirectional flow. Housings available include PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride), Hastelloy C wetted part configurations, PP (polypropylene), and PVDF body with stainless-steel electrodes. The unit mounts in pipe sizes ranging from 0.5 to 8 in. (DN15 to DN200) with standard installation fittings. Performance characteristics include a dynamic flow range of 0.15 to 33 fps (0.05 to 10 m/sec) with a linearity of ±1% and repeatability of ±0.5% of reading.
