Bearings Products: Metal-Polymer Bearings

July 10, 2008
Solid bronze, porous bronze sinter, and filled polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) make up the three layers of DP4B bearings.

The interpenetrated sinter and PTFE layers allow durability while providing coefficients of friction down to 0.02 when lubricated with oil.

The bearings are said to operate well when dry or lubricated with oil, grease, water, or process fluid. They can handle up to 36-ksi static load or 20-ksi dynamic load. Sliding speeds up to 1,000 fpm are tolerated when lubricated with oil. The parts are rated for a maximum lubricated PV of 290,000 psi fpm.

DP4B bearings can withstand temperatures from –200 to 280°C and operate with minimal corrosion in saltwater environments. The lead-free design complies with end-of-life directives.
