Angela Alban, president and CEO of SIMETRI, started her modeling, simulation and training business in 2009. The Winter Park, Fla.-based company draws on various disciplines, including additive manufacturing and material science, to design and manufacture anatomical models or representations of the human body. The models, which may embed mechanics, sensors and software to provide haptic responses, are used in medical training at medical schools, hospitals and emergency services, where realism and anatomically correct models can make all the difference in the training experience. In this video, Alban, who remains hands-on in developing the models, talks about current trends in workforce development, her experience as a leader, and what it would take to bring about change for women in the industry.
