Safety function

Sept. 12, 2013
A TÜV-certified safety function called Safety Limited Speed at Tool Center Point (SLS at TCP) has been extended to handle serial robots, and specifically, the joints on a six-axis articulated robot arm. A parameter block for generic serial robots configures any type of kinetic chain. This removes restrictions on specific types of robots and lets users define and configure customized kinematic systems with up to 11 separate joints. Up to 20 joint couplings with coupling factors are possible, letting users use mechanical couplings between individual axes.B&R industrial Automation Corp., 1250 Northmeadow Pkwy., S-100, Roswell, GA 30076, (770) 772-040, www.br-automation.com
