Part inspection gets streamlined via new CAD tool

May 3, 2013
InspectionEasySS powered by SpaceClaim is said to simplify the task of inspecting first parts.

InspectionEasySS is a new inspection product powered by the 3D modeler SpaceClaim. Developed by InspectionEasy, InspectionEasySS uses the Spaceclaim Engineer CAD System, within which all the ballooning and data entry takes place. Engineers can work with drawings in STEP, IGES, DWG/DXF and all other CAD formats to develop an inspection plan. There is a one-button import of all dimensions and tolerances from the model or DWG/DXF drawing into the inspection module, which can post data directly in 3D format and quickly generate first-article reports.

The SpaceClaim 3D direct modeling technology gives end users the ability to open and edit any CAD data, so developers need not maintain integrations with several different CAD systems. Other InspectionEasy modules include those for keeping track of company information and default settings, tracking employee user rights and access rights, tracking and scheduling machine and equipment maintenance, creation of inspection plans for part quality control, a facility to post data in a live environment to ensure parts are manufacturing correctly, and a calibration function to keep track and schedule calibration for measuring machines and measuring equipment.
