PaperDisplays, printed-electronic displays from Swedish-based research institute Acreo, (acreo.se), are to be manufactured in volume by Soligie in Savage, Minn. (soligie.com). Printed electronics builds circuits with functional, not decorative, inks. PaperDisplays are made with “electrochromic” inks that change color or properties when subjected to a small, brief electrical charge. The technology prints on paper and plastic substrates. It can be creased, bent, or folded with no harm to the display.
