The Sensors Expo and Conference runs June 2 to 5 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Ill. The twice-annual event features the latest in sensors-related technology, including wireless, nanotechnology, biosensors and MEMS, data acquisition, smart sensors, software, telecom, and wearables.
Dean Kamen, president of DEKA Research and Development Corp. and chairman and CEO of Segway LLC will be the featured speaker at "The Spirit of Innovation" luncheon on June 4. Among Kamen's accomplishments are the Segway Human Transporter and the Independence IBOT Mobility System, an aid for the physically challenged designed to climb stairs, traverse uneven terrain, and raise users to eye level with a standing person. He also founded For Information and Recognition of Science and Technology, or First, an organization dedicated to motivating young people to understand, use, and enjoy science and technology.
Other special events include a two-day Business of Sensors Symposium that focuses on topics such as acquisitions and mergers, funding, and intellectual property. In addition, attendees can express business concerns and hear what the symposium speakers have to say at the Breakfast of Champions, held June 3 and 4. At the Emerging Technologies Pavilion and Theater, attendees can watch as new sensor technologies are put to work in real-world applications and see leading developers demonstrate their recent innovations.
