Scanning for ideas: Air-powered crimping

Jan. 10, 2008
A new air-powered tool from Fabco-Air Inc., Gainesville, Fla., (fabcoair.com) operates on 85 to 95 psi, but a forcemultiplying cylinder lets it deliver over 4,000 lb. of thrust to its cam-operated jaws.

It can also be converted to swage fasteners, cut wire, stake and punch, as well as seal and emboss. The unit can be portable or bench mounted, and foot controls leave an operators hands free to guide the work. A valve lets operators adjust the force delivered and will not let the tool operate if there is not enough air pressure.
