Autoclavable Motor Built for Medical and Dental Applications

Feb. 21, 2023
maxon’s new motor family is resistant to saline and high and low pH.

At MD&M West, maxon demonstrated its steam sterilizable encoder, ENX EASY. This family of autoclavable motors is resistant to high and low pH. The motors have the option to have an autoclavable encoder, and they can be interchanged with different gears. There are different gear ratios the user can add to that motor to create a modular system designed for medical devices. They are available for diameters of 13, 16, 19 and 22 mm and are designed for 1,000 autoclave cycles.

In addition to medical and dental applications, they can also be used in harsh conditions or applications that require them to be cleaned and sterilized after use.
