Linear Bearings and Actuators for Applications

March 18, 2024
Mark Einarson, a sales engineer at Nippon Bearings, discusses high-precision linear bearings and actuators, highlighting their corrosion resistance and suitability for medical applications.

In the accompanying video, Mark Einarson demonstrates his employer’s range of Nippon Bearings at ATX West/MD&M West 2024 in Anaheim, Calif.

During a booth demo, Einarson, a sales engineer for the NB Corporation’s Western Region, zeroed in on an application for a mechanical actuator that includes a ball screw along with a mechanical linear bearing system. The demonstration featured a three axis system that incorporated three BG-type actuators. He pointed out that BG linear actuators combine the functionality of a linear slide guide and precision ball screw in a single component.

“Many customers will use this in all different configurations,” he said. “This is just one of many examples of how our actuator can be configured to produce a system. Common examples are pick and place, laser engraving or even routing of some kind.”

The compact size and accuracy make the BG single-axis actuators suitable for applications such as positioning, measurement, automotive and semiconductor equipment.
