Transparent film keeps new cars looking new

May 22, 2003

3M scientists have developed Paint Protection film to protect a vehicle's finish without changing its appearance. The film is a conformable, thermoplastic urethane with a UV clear-coat layer held in place by pressure-sensitive adhesive. The film can be applied to nearly any painted surface, including the front end, rear-view mirror housings, wheel wells, door edges, fenders, and bumpers.
