Celebrating 30 Years of Dassault Systemes Solidworks at 3DExperience World 2025
From Feb. 23-26, Machine Design was in Houston to cover Dassault Systemes’ annual user conference, 3DExperience World. The event gathered designers, engineers, makers, entrepreneurs, business leaders and students to focus on the innovations within the 3DExperience Works portfolio and the Solidworks ecosystem.
There was no shortage of learning opportunities for users from the general sessions to the 250 breakout sessions, hands-on workshops and “Ask the Experts” opportunities. The area known as “The Playground” included zones dedicated to technologies and innovations for education, startups, makers and shop floors; Solidworks certified software solutions partners; and the “Model Mania Xtreme” design competition.
Discussion topics included generative AI, AI agents, robotics and virtual twins. The focus for hardware and software working together, as well as the real world meeting the virtual world, were also hot topics.
Like the updates made to Solidworks 2025, the spotlight was on collaboration, which was facilitated via networking events such as the Welcome Reception on Sunday night, a Party on the Plaza on Tuesday night and many more.
Among several announcements to the press at the event was Wednesday’s launch of Solidworks SkillForce, a global initiative to provide licenses of applications to students participating in internships to gain real-world work experience. Unique in the industry, the program will benefit students, businesses and industry by empowering the workforce of the future with the design, engineering and manufacturing skills needed to innovate in the generative economy.
“[Students] essentially bring the tools with them to work at your office, so it’s a win, win, win,” said Suchit Jain, vice president of business development at Dassault Systemes.
