IndyCar

A View from the Cockpit

Feb. 18, 2020
Machine Design part of IndyCar racing sponsorship.

Machine Design will have a unique perspective on this year’s running of the Indianapolis 500: You’ll find us right behind driver Ben Hanley’s head.

Endeavor Business Media, which includes Machine Design, Electronic Design and other titles, is a sponsor of DragonSpeed Racing, which will compete in the NTT IndyCar Series in 2020. DragonSpeed already is well known on the European Le Mans Series, FIA World Endurance Championship and the 24 Hours of Le Mans racing circuits. Hanley will drive the #81 car, and the logos for Machine Design and Electronic Design can be found on the airfoil just above Hanley’s head.

The NTT IndyCar Series is a 17-race series beginning with the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, which takes place March 15 in Florida. The 104th running of the Indianapolis 500 will be May 24, and the series will conclude on Sept. 20 with the Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey in California.

Machine Design and its associated publications, including the aforementioned Electronic DesignMicrowaves & RFHydraulics & Pneumatics and Evaluation Engineering, will provide an inside look throughout the year at the mechanics, electronics, systems and people that go into engineering and competing with an open-wheel racing car. We will have continuing coverage of the DragonSpeed team throughout the IndyCar season.

Machine Design and the other publications in our group have been covering IndyCar and automotive technology for decades. Here are some of the ways we’ve covered IndyCar racing over the years:
