Using 3D Printing to Adapt Accessibility Tools to Users

Jan. 9, 2025
Learn how JIB and Sculpteo overcame the challenges of developing a device that integrates eye-tracking technology with varying tablet types. Because many users employ different tablets, a flexible casing that could adapt to the dimensions and configurations unique to each model was required.

In this second of a two-part interview that Machine Design had with JIB’s co-founder Thomas Groell and Sculpteo’s CEO Alexandre D’Orsetti, we hear about the workflow and processes that make this assistive device possible for individuals with neurogenerative diseases or severe motor disabilities.

The hardware integration of the eye tracker and tablet effectively allows for real-time communication. The eye tracker, located beneath the tablet and enclosed within the casing, connects to the tablet through a hub that facilitates peripheral connections, ensuring that user experience remains seamless, allowing individuals with disabilities to interact with the device intuitively.
