Machine Design’s popular ‘What’s The Difference Between…?” series takes a look at a wide variety of topics. Just type ‘What’s The Difference’ into Machine Design’s search engine, and you’ll get a lot of answers to that question.
The latest installment in the series looks at the difference between machined springs and traditional springs. In a white paper produced by MW Components, we look at the design and manufacturing differences between machined springs and wire-wound springs, including how they handle undesirable rotation and bending, the differences in their precision and expected reliability, the materials they are produced from and their ability to connect or interact with other parts of an assembly.
