Design Insights: The Awards ARE the Solution; IDEA! Awards Deadline Approaches

June 24, 2021
A review of the day’s top trending stories from Machine Design editors.

The Awards ARE the Solution

One of the cooler aspects of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) AM Awards, which honored outstanding achievement in additive manufacturing, was that the awards were colorful—and 3D printed.

The five companies honored by ASME show again the creative ways additive manufacturing can be applied to solve problems as well as the support tools being created to enhance those efforts.

“It’s exciting to see all the work the AM community is doing to accelerate applications,” said Debbie Holton, ASME’s managing director of industry events, in a press release announcing the awards. “We’re seeing more efficiency, improved quality, and new machines, materials and tools to help engineers and manufacturers in a variety of industries better plan and design innovative new products.”

IDEA! Awards Deadline Approaches

3D Printing is one of 14 categories in this year’s IDEA! Awards, to be presented at the 2021 IDEA! Conference in Cleveland.

The deadline to enter the 2021 IDEA! Awards is less than three weeks away. 2021 IDEA! Awards will highlight the top innovative products created in the last year. The awards program is a showcase for new engineering solutions. It also provides great value for everyone who enters.
