Supply Chain Lessons

There were so many things that we learned from the pandemic, and one of the most crucial relating to the manufacturing sector was the importance of—and fragility of—the medical industry supply chain. As a recent Machine Design article notes, the lessons from the pandemic for that crucial link.

“While the COVID pandemic was unprecedented, it has presented medical device manufacturers with an opportunity to examine their approach to equipment design, manufacturing and component supply chains,” write article author Robert Shelley, general manager for Southco’s Diversified Technologies business. “The vulnerabilities in this complex system of suppliers for various parts point to the need to adopt a more secure approach to medical equipment design and manufacturing.

Additive Manufacturing Playbook

Additive manufacturing allows you to design and build parts with geometries, materials and functionality that would be impossible with traditional methods. This new product development guide takes you through every step of the process from concept through fulfillment so you can bring your ideas to life. With real examples and exercises to help you along the way, A new Machine Design white paper produced in conjunction with Fast Radius offers a playbook to start incorporating additive manufacturing into your production plan.
