Roughly 40 user-requested enhancements alone were made to Dassault Systemes’ SOLIDWORKS software for 2025, so when Machine Design reached out to talk about them, Manish Kumar, CEO and vice president R&D, selected his five favorite areas where enhancements were made to share with us.

Manish Kumar, CEO and vice president R&D, SOLIDWORKS, Dassault Systemes, spoke with Machine Design about some of the enhancements in SOLIDWORKS 2025. He emphasizes collaboration, user experience and integration with emerging technologies.

Key features of the updated version include:

  • 3D Experience platform
  • Scalable portfolio for design, simulation, manufacturing, marketing and governance
  • SOLIDWORKS Ultimate package.

The platform supports cloud-based collaboration with tools such as quick tours and community features. Kumar highlights performance improvements, including increased interactive speed and new functionalities like defeature and LDR component preview. He says the company also focuses on user-driven enhancements, with 40 new features based on user feedback.
