Sharpen Your Design Skills: 3D Experience Simulation Webinar

Sept. 6, 2024
CAD design and engineering analysis veteran Glenn Whyte will demonstrate why designers and traditional analysts should explore all available tools. Bookmark and join this live webinar on Sept. 11, 2024, at 2 p.m. ET.

Glenn Whyte, partner technical executive director, Dassault Systèmes, carved out time for a call with Machine Design to bring awareness to his upcoming webinar presentation showcasing advancements in CAD-based simulation tools.

The webinar, “Design Engineers: Get the Most out of Simulation and Analysis Tools,” is slated for Sept. 11, 2024 at 2 p.m. ET, and invites attendees to experience firsthand how Dassault Systèmes is pushing the design envelope with 3D experience simulation.

“This webinar is all about moving from engineering analysis and the design process as being that that final check—that, at the end of the process, is this object strong enough, cool enough, fast enough, whatever the problem might be,” said Whyte. “So, moving away from that notion of a final check to a real asset for design exploration. As we design this product, how do we make it the best it can possibly be by fully exploring the design space and testing many, many variants instead of just the final design candidate?”

Enabling Technologies

There are at least a couple of enabling technologies that are forcing a shift in the design approach, one of which is the connection between design and simulation, according to Whyte, who has more than 20 years of experience in software tools used for CAD design, engineering analysis and product development.

“Some embedded simulation tools in your CAD tool have been around for some time, but you’ve always had to make a sacrifice about potentially the fidelity or the quality of that analysis you’re doing,” Whyte said. “So, being able to connect some of the most powerful simulation tools in the world directly to your design environment allows you to quickly make adjustments to sizes, shapes and other parameters within your model and explore them.”

Another enabler is being able to explore a range of physics in one environment. “So, being able to seamlessly move from an assessment of electromagnetic compatibility to a thermal assessment using CFD and then potential strength or drop test or vibration. Being able to do that in one environment without bouncing between three different tools really allows you to trade off those different performance characteristics.”

Whyte will demonstrate use cases using 3DEXPERIENCE Simulation tools.

Attendees are invited to bring questions to the live event jointly hosted by Machine Design and Dassault Systèmes.
