New Business Challenge: Piezohydraulic Actuator

Feb. 27, 2015
Siemens puts out a call for the best application or business plan for a new piezohydraulic actuator design.

Hey Big Idea Engineers!

Siemens is seeking innovative applications, business ideas, or partners for joint business opportunities for a newly developed piezohydraulic actuator. This challenge ends March 1st, 2015.

The compact design combines various hydraulic elements, and it mimics the functionality of a human muscle. Siemens states it gives maximum force at zero velocity and low force for movements with high velocity. The components are encompassed in metal so it works in harsh environments. It also resists high pressures and temperatures, vibration, and magnetic fields.
