At Pack Expo 2014, SICK unveiled its DeltaPac MultiTask photoelectric sensor, which precisely counts, detects, and differentiates between successive packaging items on conveyor belts. As a result, the IP67-rated sensor helps optimize product flow (e.g., by reducing downtime and damage caused by collisions) and cut down on the hardware in packaging applications. Sensing range is 30 to 40 mm to the front edge of the object. The DeltaPac can detect up to 200,000 packages per hour.
Built with the company’s Delta-S-Technology, which uses four PinPoint 2.0 LEDs and two receivers with SICK-specific SIRIC ASIC technology, the sensor can seamlessly detect corners, folds, and grooves regardless of object color, size, surface, or background. To facilitate installation, operation, and customization, the pre-configured device uses SICK’s flexible SOPAS-ET configuration software.
