Endress+Hauser 80 GHz Radar Sensors are Suitable for Extreme Process Conditions

Sept. 19, 2023
E+H Micropilot sensors are designed to be easy-to-operate level measuring devices for plants that are ready for digitalization.

E+H’s 80 GHz radar sensor lineup includes FMR63B, FMR66B and FMR67B, all of which are made to overcome challenges such as difficult access, harsh environments and extreme process conditions.

Key features of the sensors include:

  • Compact design for confined installation situations
  • Intuitive commissioning and operation with integrated wizards
  • Remote control via SmartBlue app Bluetooth interface
  • Heartbeat technology for continuous monitoring and verification during operation
  • SIL2 and SIL3 compliance for enhanced plant safety.

This generation of Micropilot 80GHz radar sensors offer versions that are designed to withstand aggressive media or extreme temperatures. The wizard assistants guide users through the process, helping to prevent errors and enable successful commissioning, even with limited experience or training.

Increased Efficiency and Measurement

The FMR6xB models have a recently developed 80 GHz radar chip. Combined with Heartbeat technology, these sensors provide diagnostic and monitoring data, enabling predictive maintenance and minimizing downtime. The company reports that device verifications can be performed in minutes without interrupting the process, using the patented radar accuracy index (RAI) and Heartbeat Verification. This traceable verification, according to DIN ISO 9001, significantly reduces calibration and documentation efforts while extending calibration cycles.
