Structural composite molding compounds - IDI Composites

The composites mold to complex geometries using standard molding processes and permit part consolidation with little finishing and few secondary operations.

Engineered structural composites (ESC) combine fiberglass or carbon fiber with polyester, vinyl ester, polyurethane, and epoxy resins. They resist corrosion, extreme temperatures, moisture, and chemicals. They are less susceptible to relaxation or creep failure than competing materials and experience little or no shrinkage when molded with standard processes. ESC comes in Sheet Molding Compound (SMC) and Bulk Molding Compound (BMC) forms. Thicknesses down to 0.060 in. are available.
