Zero-discharge black-oxide system - Birchwood Casey

Dec. 7, 2010
The system uses ion exchange to purify and recycle rinse waters.

The Tru Temp low-temperature black-oxide zero-discharge configuration uses ion exchange to remove particulates and dissolved ions from rinse water without the need for drain connections and permits. The system operates at 200°F to form a 0.00002-in.-thich black magnetite finish in 30 min and satisfies Mil Spec DTL 13924D and AMS 2485.
Systems come standard in 40 and 100-gal sizes or larger by custom design. The 100-gal system uses seven 24 x 40 x 28-in. tanks, occupies 120 ft2, and processes up to 4,000 lb of work per shift.
