Custom gas springs are made from steel, 316L stainless steel, or anodized aluminum.

The pneumatic springs are said to be compact and maintenance free, and provide 2 to 2,000 lb of force with stroke lengths ranging from 0.5 to 33 in. or more. Microsprings are available in 316L stainless steel.
