How To Work With Multiple Drawing-File Versions

April 1, 2005
AutoCAD users who must work with multiple versions of DWG files can now do so regardless of the Auto-CAD version that produced it.

The DWGgateway, free software available at www.dwggateway.com or solidworks.com, quickly installs into AutoCAD. The DWGgateway lets versions of the CAD program back to AutoCAD R14 read, edit, and save (.dwg and .dxf) 2D files created by more recent versions of the software, including AutoCAD 2005. The gateway lets designers who prefer AutoCAD 2000i, for example, read DWG and DXF files produced by later versions of the CAD program. The gateway lets AutoCAD 14 through AutoCAD 2005 produce DWG and DXF data formats back to AutoCAD Release 2.5.
