New Products: Piston and Cylinder Sets

Sept. 25, 2008
A new line of adaptable piston and cylinder sets are unaffected by extreme temperature variations, run clean, and don’t contaminate surrounding components.

The sets are made from a graphite piston/borosilicate glass-cylinder combination, where each piston is selectively matched to fit the cylinder with extremely close clearances. Low friction lets units respond to forces as low as a few grams and less than 0.2-psi pressures. Starting and running friction are almost identical, which prevents jerky, uncontrolled starts and provides uniform smoothness throughout the full stroke of the device.

The cylinders come in 0.220 to 1.75-in. bore sizes and lengths from the desired stroke plus 0.325 in. to the desired stroke plus 0.880 in. Without side loads, the cylinders exhibit friction of less than 1 gm.
