Heat-Activated Adhesives

May 25, 2006
Double Sided Heat Activate Series (HA) of tape combines foam, Mylar, and tissue carriers with pressure-sensitive acrylic adhesive on the close side, and heat-activated adhesive on the open side.

The heat-activated adhesive provides ultrahigh bond strengths to low-surface-energy (LSE) materials. There are many heat-activation methods, but the best for this Series is hot air blown directly onto the surface. As the adhesive cools, the resulting molecular exchange forms a durable, long-lasting bond to most rubbers, EPDMs, PUs, and PVC-based LSE plastics. Likewise, the acrylic PSA on its close side provides high adhesion and shear strength to most finished surfaces. The Series also perform well on conformability-to-bonding surfaces and resists solvents, chemicals, UV, and heat.
