Z Corporation announced the introduction of the Spectrum Z510 3D Printing System, the first high-definition color 3D printer on the market. The company unveiled the system at SolidWorks World, an annual worldwide conference of SolidWorks® users, personnel, distributors, partners, and CAD industry analysts.
The Spectrum Z510 System introduces HD3DP (high-definition 3D printing) for rapid prototyping to designers, engineers, and product developers, and continues Z Corporations history of industry firsts, following the companys introduction of the first color 3D printing capabilities in 2000.
In addition to providing high-fidelity, 24-bit color, the system supports 600 X 540 dpi (dots per inch) print-head resolution, large build sizes (254 mm X 356 mm X 203 mm, 10 in. X 14 in. X 8 in), improved surface finish, smaller feature resolution, and low operating costs. Color capabilities allow for better representation of assemblies, enhanced texture mapping, and vibrant product coloring. The systems software also enables labeling for improved communication of designs.
According to Tom Clay, Z Corp. President, the Spectrum Z510 System is the culmination of customer requests for high-definition, color 3D printing capabilities and larger build size while maintaining Z Corp.'s well-known advantages of unrivaled speed and affordability. "We listen to what our customers are telling us," Clay explains. "Our customers want to be able to use their 3D printer as quickly and easily as they use their 2D printer."
"Worldwide adoption of color 3D printing technology has accelerated in recent years, and we are pleased that we have already received over 100 orders for the new system," notes John Kawola, Z Corp. Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing. "The Spectrum Z510 System is the only 3D printer capable of producing full-color, high-definition prototypes, which provide product developers with the best means available for evaluating product designs and design concepts early in the development process."
The introduction of the Spectrum Z510 System expands the Z Corp. product line, which includes the entry-level ZPrinter 310 System and the Z810 Large-Format System. The addition of color HD3DP capabilities to the product line provides customers with a complete range of options for meeting their rapid prototyping and 3D printing needs.
The Spectrum Z510 System is currently available for a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $49,900 in the United States. Units will begin shipping during the first quarter of 2005.
