Recycling plastics usually means it has to be ground into consistent-sized particles, and for that you need industrial grinders such as those from Vecoplan, Archdale, N.C. (vecoplanllc.com). Their K-models, for example, grind wood waste, plastic scrap, tires, medical waste, cables and wire, pallets, and carpets. The K grinders are vertically fed and use a hydraulic ram or two to shove waste into the spinning rotor and its blades. The rotors vary in diameter from 10 to 15 in. and spin at 120 rpm. The grinders weigh from 5,700 to 14,900 lb, with the drive motor going from 30 to 150 hp.
