BAUMA sets the stage for continued growth

March 22, 2007
BAUMA, the 28th annual international trade fair for construction machinery, building-material machines, mining machines, construction vehicles, and construction equipment, is scheduled for April 23 to 29 at the New Munich Trade Fair Centre in Germany.

The last BAUMA Fair attracted 410,000 visitors.

The event, which is held every three years, is expected to host 3,000 exhibitors from 48 countries covering more than 540,000 m2 of exhibition space. The fair has also grown more international due to global partnering and will focus on the Arabian Peninsula.

The organizers, Munich International Trade Fairs and VDMA (associations for construction and building-materials machinery and mining equipment in the German Engineering Federation), have organized the fair into four new categories: All Around the Construction Site; Mining, Extraction and Processing of Raw Materials; Production of Building Materials; and Component and Service Suppliers. The new categories will make it easier for visitors to find their primary areas of interest.

A variety of topics will be addressed through the exhibits. For example, because construction vehicles are becoming more environmentally and user friendly, exhibitors will focus on environmental compatibility and driver comfort. In response to strict emissions regulations in Europe, technological advances are being explored, such as selective catalytic reduction technology.

Other key points addressed by exhibitors will include the growing demand for raw materials, especially in developing countries such as China and India; the latest developments in concrete compaction and preparation; modern machinery and equipment for pavement laying and renovation; ergonomic design; mobility and safety; and many more.
