On the opening of the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) 2024, one of the largest trade shows for manufacturing technology, professionals gathered from around the globe at Chicago’s McCormick Place. For six days, IMTS offered a comprehensive look at new technologies, industry trends and opportunities for collaboration.
With roughly 1,700 exhibitors in 1.2 million square feet of exhibiting space, more than 89,000 visitors had the opportunity to explore a range of innovations that have the potential to transform their operations and improve productivity.

A key area of focus at this year's show was sustainability. As the manufacturing sector faces increasing pressure to decrease its environmental impact, many exhibitors presented solutions designed to create more efficient processes and reduce waste. Technologies that emphasize eco-friendly practices not only support regulatory compliance but cater to a growing market demand for sustainable products and practices.
Sessions featured industry leaders who shared their expert insights about the trends that are impacting the manufacturing industry. Topics included digital transformation, the role of artificial intelligence and the importance of workforce development.
Hands-on demonstrations were a highlight of the Expo and allowed visitors to engage directly with technology. Exhibitors showcased their latest machinery and software solutions through live presentations, showing how emerging technologies can be used effectively.
As IMTS 2024 unfolded, the focus was not only be on the latest innovations but also the collective wisdom of the manufacturing community. Networking was a significant component of the show, especially on Day 1, as attendees began to reconnect with peers and build new relationships.
If you attended the show, you know it emcompassed all four buildings of McCormick Place—North, South, East and West—each with specific product sectors, that were divided as follows:
