How Ecosystems Drive Smart Manufacturing Adoption

May 5, 2023
Suppliers such as Bosch Rexroth are bringing hardware, software and analytics together in a single solution. Is this the "smart manufacturing" we’ve been waiting for?

As manufacturing has transformed from an analog operation to an integrated digital process, the connection points for machines and data have dramatically evolved. Suppliers now offer ways to connect legacy equipment with new sensors, software and analytics to provide a comprehensive view of operations.

How will this affect OEMs and machine builders? And how will it change the way suppliers work with the integration community? Machine Design discussed some of those issues with Bosch Rexroth Product Manager Dan Barrera. Rexroth’s offering in this space is touched upon, but also the larger ways the plant is connected today, and how that will impact the design and operations roles in manufacturing.
