The new OAS distance and presence sensor transforms grippers into seeing grippers without the need for an expensive vision system. The optical system is directly integrated into the gripping center and continuously supplies the control unit with information, such as measuring the distance between the gripper and component. The sensor lets grippers differentiate components, recognize position, pick parts from a running belt, detect wrongly gripped components, and increase the gripping reliability.
The sensor works with an infrared light at a wavelength of 850 nm, functions at temperatures between 14 and 131°F, and fulfills the standards for protection class IP65.
