Six-axis-precision positioner

Aug. 30, 2013
The H-820 Hexapod six-axis-precision positioner produces motion in XYZ as well as pitch, yaw, and roll.
The positioner handles applications that require multiaxis motion and high flexibility but don’t need precision on a nanometer or sub-micrometer level. Driven by powerful brushless motors, the unit offers linear travel to 100 mm, rotary travel to 60°, load capacity of 20 kg, velocity of 20 mm/sec, and resolution in the micrometer range. The Hexapod is driven by six high-resolution actuators connected directly to one lightweight platform. Another advantage is a randomized, user-programmable pivot point.  In addition, there are no cable management issues and accumulation of runout and wobble errors such as with conventional stacked linear and rotary stages.  Physik Instrumente (PI) L.P., 16 Albert St., Auburn, MA 01501, (508) 832-3456, www.hexapods.net
