The ERN 1000 and 1100 Series of low-profile incremental rotary encoders with block commutation tracks are suitable for small-dimensioned servomotors. The encoders feature opto-ASIC-based photoelectric scanning with integrated interpolation. The device’s electrical output at TTL levels with differential signals let them connect to most standard subsequent electronics for control of digitally controlled servomotors (up to edge lengths of 40 and 55 mm).

The ERN 1023 encoder has an overall length of 35.2-mm maximum and an IP64 rating. The ERN 1123 has an overall length of 30.3-mm maximum and an IP0 for general use.

Both have mounted stator couplings and blind hollow shafts. Choice of appropriate commutation signals is dependent upon the number of poles of the motor to be controlled.
